STATEHOUSE (Sept. 21, 2017) – Local communities will receive state matching grants to improve roads and bridges, according to State Rep. Randy Frye (R-Greensburg).
More than $150 million was awarded to Indiana cities, towns and counties through the Community crossings grant program, which is now in the second year. The grants are available through the Indiana Department of Transportation as a result of legislation co-authored by Frye in 2016.
“In order to continue our reputation as the Crossroads of America, maintaining our roads and bridges is critical,” Frye said. “Receiving these grants will allow local governments to make much-needed repairs and improvements to our transportation infrastructure.”
Dearborn County will receive $840,967, Decatur County will receive $730,569, Jennings County will receive $731,636, Ohio County will receive $750,000, Ripley County will receive $833,700 and Switzerland County will receive $869,850. In addition, various communities within these counties, as well as Jefferson County, were awarded grants:

Projects eligible for funding through Community Crossings include road and bridge preservation, road reconstruction, intersection improvements, small structure replacements, guardrail replacements and signs.
