STATEHOUSE (June 22, 2018) — Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch presented a Golden Hoosier Award to Steve Dillman of Greenwood at the Statehouse Thursday for his service and commitment to the community, according to State Sen. Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) and State Rep. Dave Frizzell (R-Indianapolis).

“My congratulations go out to our very own Steve Dillman for being named a Golden Hoosier,” Bray said. “His commitment to our community, including his service as a firefighter, advocacy for the Cancer Support Network and dedication to mentoring our young people, is truly commendable. Public servants like Steve are the backbone of our community, and I am grateful to him for his years of public service.”

A retired Indianapolis Fire Department firefighter, Dillman has served as a board member of the White River Township Fire Protection District and as a cancer mentor at Franciscan St. Francis Health. As a cancer mentor, he works as a trainer for the Firefighter Cancer Support Network, which provides cancer awareness, prevention and treatment support for firefighters worldwide.

“Steve is a true public servant,” Frizzell said. “He dedicated much of his life to ensuring our neighbors are kept safe through his work on the fire department and other boards devoted to improving the quality of fire services. His compassion for others is immense, and I commend him on all that he has done and continues to do for our community.”

The lieutenant governor’s office accepts nominations each year for the Golden Hoosier Awards. The award recognizes outstanding Hoosiers for their lifetime of service to their communities, and is the highest honor bestowed on those in Indiana who are at least 65 years old.
