STATEHOUSE (Oct. 6, 2016) – Cass County was recently awarded over $2.4 million in federal funding from the Indiana Department of Transportation for a reconstruction project on County Road 400 S, according to State Rep. Bill Friend (R-Macy).
“Oftentimes, rural communities are overlooked when it comes to funding. These federal dollars that are being specifically directed to rural areas, can help reduce the burden on our local and state infrastructure budgets,” Friend said. “This past session, we looked at ways to provide more funding for Hoosier roads and bridges. I plan to help find a responsible, long-term funding solution for our transportation infrastructure during this upcoming session.”
INDOT distributed nearly $80 million in federal transportation funding to 64 rural cities, towns and counties to invest in local road and bridge improvements and sidewalk projects. Combined with local funds, close to $135 million is being invested in infrastructure in communities across Indiana.
