Friend attends local fire department training
STATEHOUSE (May 24, 2016) — State Rep. Bill Friend (R-Macy) attended Fire Ops 101 at the Peru Fire Department today, where he learned about what it takes to be a firefighter.
Fire Ops 101 is a program designed to allow local officials to experience different scenarios firefighters practice to hone their skills. The department trains year round to ensure that their members are prepared for all emergency situations.
“While I was unable to physically participate with the other guests and firefighters in the training, I was able to see firsthand the strength and endurance needed to do this difficult job,” Friend said. “This was truly an eye-opening exercise, and I hope to use this experience to better serve all emergency personnel.”
