STATEHOUSE (Aug. 14, 2025) – The Meyer Farm in Franklin County recently received Hoosier Homestead Centennial and Sesquicentennial awards for being in operation since 1863, according to State Rep. Lindsay Patterson (R-Brookville) and State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg).
"Hoosier Homestead awardees are a great example of the dedication it takes to keep a family farm going year after year," Patterson said. "This recognition is a tribute to our rural communities. I’m proud to see families in our district honored for their impact on Indiana agriculture."
Hoosier Homestead awards honor farms owned and operated by the same family for 100, 150 and 200 years with centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial awards.
"Indiana is the ninth largest farming state in the nation, and long-time farm families like Meyers have helped make us one of the top agricultural producers," Leising said. "I appreciate their tireless work and commitment over many generations to our community and state."
This farm family was among 95 awardees recently honored during a ceremony at the Indiana State Fair.
Hoosier Homestead ceremonies are conducted every spring and summer. Since establishing the program in 1976, Indiana has recognized more than 6,000 farms for their economic and cultural impact to the state.
