STATEHOUSE (Dec. 16, 2016) — State Rep. Karen Engleman (R-Georgetown) was recently selected to serve on the House Committee on Local Government.
She was also named to the House Committee on Government and Regulatory Reform, the House Judiciary Committee and the House Select Committee on Government Reduction.
“Committees play an integral role in the legislative process as they provide a forum to gather input from industry experts and the public while reviewing legislative proposals,” Engleman said. “Committee assignments reflect individual members’ skill sets, and I will use my background as a county auditor to ensure we pass legislation that keeps local government efficient and responsive to Hoosiers.”
Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election. On Jan. 4, House lawmakers will convene at 1:30 p.m. in the House Chamber for the first day of the 2017 legislative session.
Standing committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas.
