STATEHOUSE (May 4, 2020) – Corydon recently received $250,000 in coronavirus relief to support rural Hoosiers, according to State Rep. Karen Engleman (R-Georgetown).
"Indiana is responding with financial support to help businesses in our rural areas during this public health crisis," Engleman said. "Corydon employers and employees will benefit from this additional funding as we continue to address COVID-19."
Corydon received $250,000 toward a local grant program. Applicants may request up to $10,000 in grant funds for working capital to assist with the payroll of essential employees and allow non-essential employees to work remotely. According to Engleman, 62 communities received funding through the COVID-19 Response Program.
In March, Gov. Eric Holcomb issued Executive Order 20-05, which allowed the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs to redirect Community Development Block Grant funds to assist with COVID-19 needs. As a result, the COVID-19 Response Program was created to address the immediate impacts of the public health emergency on Indiana’s rural communities.
