STATEHOUSE (July 9, 2024) – Elkhart County legislators recently received appointments to serve on interim study committees, which will meet throughout the summer and fall to explore policy issues and work together to identify solutions.

Legislators will hear testimony from the public, various experts and stakeholders as they work on bill recommendations ahead of the budget session in January. State Rep. Doug Miller (R-Elkhart) will serve as chair of the Interim Study Committee on Government. He will also serve as a member on the Government Reform Task Force.

"During the interim, lawmakers have an opportunity to meet and discuss issues and policies that are geared toward improving the lives of Hoosiers," Miller said. "Our committee will take a look at Indiana's participation in various interstate compacts."

State Rep. David Abbott (R-Rome City) will serve as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Employment and Labor, and the Board of Trustees of the State Museum and Historic Sites Corp.

State Rep. Joanna King (R-Middlebury) will serve as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs, and on the Governor's Commission on Supplier Diversity.

State Rep. Tim Wesco (R-Osceola) will serve as chair of the Interim Study Committee on Elections. He will also serve on the County Redistricting Commission.
