STATEHOUSE (Aug. 18, 2022) – Longstanding Dubois County farms recently received Hoosier Homestead awards for being in operation for 100 years or more, according to local lawmakers.

"These longtime farm families contribute greatly to our area's economy and culture," said State Rep. Shane Lindauer (R-Jasper). "Thriving for more than 100 years is no small feat and these Hoosiers deserve recognition."

Located in Dubois County, these farms were presented Hoosier Homestead Awards:

"It is wonderful to see so many farms in our area continue to stand the test of time," said State Sen. Mark Messmer (R-Jasper). "Maintaining anything, let alone a farm, for over 100 years is incredibly impressive, and I am happy to see these families' hard work being recognized."

These farm families were among more than 100 awardees recently recognized at the Indiana State Fair for their commitment to Indiana agriculture.

"Agriculture is a major part of our state's identity," said State Rep. Stephen Bartels (R-Eckerty). "Hoosier farmers feed our state and the nation, and we thank them for carrying on this vital tradition in Indiana."

Farms owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more can qualify for centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial Hoosier Homestead awards.

"These farms are a testament to the continuous and monumental impact the agriculture industry has in our state," said State Sen. Gary Byrne (R-Byrneville). "I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to recognize them for their strong work ethic and dedication to supporting our local communities and state."

Each year, two awards ceremonies are held in the spring and summer commemorating the achievements of farm families across the state. Since its inception in 1976, more than 5,800 farms received the designation of Hoosier Homestead.
