State Rep. Steve Davisson (R-Salem) Thursday at the Indiana Statehouse honored the 2019 state champion Salem High School marching band with a resolution.

According to Davisson, the 38-member Salem Marching Lions won the Indiana State Music Association's Scholastic Class B Marching Band State Finals in October of last year at Lucas Oil Stadium. The band’s show for the season was called, “From Dark to Light.”

“These kids really work hard,” Davisson said. “The staff, the entire band and all the directors put a lot of time into this. It takes a lot of self-discipline, and we are really proud to have them here and honor them for a great season.”

Davisson said the Salem Marching Lions also won a state championship in 2013.

Approximately 45 band members, teachers, administrators and parents attended the resolution at the Statehouse.
