STATEHOUSE (Aug. 15, 2025) – The Fuhrman Farm in Daviess County, in operation since 1909, recently received a Hoosier Homestead Centennial Award, according to State Rep. Shane Lindauer (R-Jasper) and State Sen. Eric Bassler (R-Washington).
"The Hoosier Homestead Award honors those who've helped shape Indiana's agriculture for generations," Lindauer said. "It represents well-deserved recognition of hardworking Hoosiers who have owned and operated a family farm for a century or more."
Hoosier Homestead awards honor farms owned and operated by the same family for 100, 150 and 200 years with centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial awards.
"Operating a family farm for over 100 years is an incredible milestone," Bassler said. "I am proud to represent such hardworking people like the Fuhrmans who are committed to not only their farming legacy, but also the state of Indiana."
This farm family was among 95 awardees recently honored during a ceremony at the Indiana State Fair.
Hoosier Homestead ceremonies are conducted every spring and summer. Since establishing the program in 1976, Indiana has recognized more than 6,000 farms for their economic and cultural impact to the state.
