Note to the Press – State Reps. Kendell Culp (R-Rensselaer) and Jim Pressel (R-Rolling Prairie) issued the following statements in response to Gov. Eric Holcomb's decision to deploy the Indiana National Guard to support the ongoing border security mission in Texas. Following the recent direct request from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Holcomb announced he will send 50 Hoosier guardsmen to help the Texas National Guard during a 10-month deployment:
STATEHOUSE (Feb. 9, 2024) – "The Biden Administration's decision to open the southern border is undermining national security and Texas is on the front lines of this crisis. With illegal immigration reaching a record high, and more and more lethal drugs entering the country, I stand in support of Governor Holcomb's decision to deploy the Indiana National Guard to aid Texas as they work tirelessly to secure and protect their state," said State Rep. Kendell Culp (R-Rensselaer).
"The southern border is out of control with illegal immigration at its worst in decades and dangerous drugs pouring into our country. I fully support Governor Holcomb and his actions to help Texas secure its border. I'm incredibly thankful for the Hoosier men and women in the Indiana National Guard, and their ability to answer this call and help Texas hold the line," said State Rep. Jim Pressel (R-Rolling Prairie).
