Culp honors Monon's Devon Querry with Circle of Corydon Award

STATEHOUSE (June 4, 2024) – State Rep. Kendell Culp (R-Rensselaer) recently honored lifelong Monon resident and community volunteer Devon Querry with the Circle of Corydon Award.

Querry, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday, graduated from Monon High School in 1952, where he participated in the band, held officer positions in several clubs and played basketball, baseball and ran track. After earning a pharmaceutical degree from Purdue University, Querry purchased and operated Querry Pharmacy in downtown Monon until retiring in 1997. 

"With so much involvement in Monon, Devon is an integral part of our community," Culp said. "This much-deserved award reflects his commitment to serving others. I'm honored to have been able to present this award in recognition of all he has done."

Since retiring, Querry has volunteered at Monon Methodist Church and Caboose Park, becoming grand marshal of the annual Monon Christmas Parade and serving as treasurer for Monon Methodist Church, the Monon Civic Preservation Society, Monon Food Pantry and the Lions Club.

The Circle of Corydon Award was established by the governor in 2017 to recognize Hoosiers who have made remarkable contributions to the betterment of Indiana and its people, demonstrating through life and service qualities exemplified by the state’s greatest citizens. This is the only award issued and signed jointly by members of both the executive and legislative branches.
