STATEHOUSE (Dec. 3, 2025) – State Rep. Cory Criswell (R-Middletown) recently joined family, friends and community members to celebrate the 100th birthday of Dr. Phyllis Grant, presenting her with an Indiana House of Representatives District Declaration in recognition of her career and impact on Henry County.
Dr. Grant spent decades caring for residents across East Central Indiana and delivered thousands of babies during her years as a physician. One of Indiana University’s first female medical graduates, she delivered infants in the Middletown and New Castle areas. Criswell said the recognition was especially meaningful because Dr. Grant delivered his wife and every member of her immediate family, along with many others.
"It was my honor to present this District Declaration to celebrate Dr. Grant's milestone and legacy," Criswell said. "Her commitment to caring for others has shaped our community for so many years."
The declaration presented by Criswell formally recognizes Dr. Grant’s contributions to public health, her service to local families and the 100 years of impact she has had on neighbors throughout House District 54.
Criswell said he welcomes opportunities to highlight outstanding Hoosiers whose lives and service strengthen East Central Indiana. If you have questions or need help navigating state resources, call 317-232-9850 or visit in.gov/h54.
