STATEHOUSE (Nov. 23, 2022) – Cory Criswell of Middletown and Lindsay Patterson of Brookville took the oath of office Tuesday to become state representatives and serve portions of Rush County.
Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush administered the oath to all House lawmakers during a swearing-in ceremony in the House Chamber of the Statehouse during Organization Day, which formally kicked off the 2023 legislative session.
Criswell represents House District 54, which includes the majority of Rush and Henry counties, as well as portions of Hancock and Shelby counties. Criswell was raised in Henry County where he currently teaches at New Castle Elementary School and is an assistant coach for the high school boys' varsity basketball team. He is a graduate of Anderson University and Ball State University, where he earned his master's of education administration. Criswell, his wife, Sabrina, and two children are members of Blue River Church of the Nazarene.
"It's an incredible honor to serve District 54 as state representative, and I'm excited to roll up my sleeves and get to work," Criswell said. "Whether it's supporting local manufacturing and agricultural jobs, standing up for small-business owners and education, or defending the 2nd Amendment, I'm looking forward to bringing the voices of our communities to the Statehouse."
Patterson represents House District 55, which includes portions of Rush, Decatur and Ripley counties, and all of Fayette, Union and Franklin counties. Born and raised in Brookville, Patterson is a graduate of Indiana University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in business. She currently works as a dental hygienist in Greendale, and lives in Franklin County with her husband, Brian, and her two sons Aydyn and Carsyn.
"I feel incredibly blessed to represent the area where I grew up and where we chose to raise our family," Patterson said. "I'll continue to support strong schools and parents' rights, fiscal responsibility, individual freedoms and our right to bear arms. I firmly believe Southeast Indiana's best days are in front of us, and I'm ready to get to work on our district's behalf."
