STATEHOUSE (Oct. 7, 2025) – Indiana House Republicans are seeking student interns for the 2026 legislative session, according to State Reps. Cory Criswell (R-Middletown) and Lindsay Patterson (R-Brookville).

These paid, full-time internships are open to college students, recent graduates and students in graduate and law school. Patterson said the internship is an opportunity to gain practical knowledge of state government through active participation in the legislative process.

"This internship is more than just a learning experience for our students," Patterson said. "It’s an opportunity for them to understand how decisions are made, contribute to meaningful discussions, and actively engage with their community. The knowledge they will gain here helps shape both their education and future."

Criswell said interns will work in the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis full time Monday through Friday during the legislative session, which starts in January and concludes in March.

“When talking to former interns, the one thing they always mention is how much confidence they gained,” Criswell said. “They walk away knowing they can handle challenges and contribute in meaningful ways.”

Positions are available in legislative operations, policy and communications.

Interns will be paired with a staff member to work directly with an assigned group of state representatives. During this spring semester internship, students will have opportunities to interact with state legislators, state agencies and private sector organizations, as well as participate in a weekly speaker series featuring Indiana civic leaders.

Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
