Local students in our community can explore the Statehouse, meet their representative and learn about the legislative process as a House page during the upcoming 2024 session. Last year, I was lucky to be able to spend time with pages and I encourage more students to apply to this program with the Indiana House of Representatives.
The House Page Program is a great way for students to learn more about Indiana's legislature and state government as they spend a day at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. Students ages 13 to 18 can apply now to page for the upcoming session, which begins on Jan. 8 and must conclude by March 14. Students will help House legislators and staff with their duties, and tour the governor's office, the Indiana Supreme Court, and the House and Senate chambers.
Interested students or parents can visit indianahouserepublicans.com/pageprogram to fill out the online application and select a day to participate during the 2024 legislative session. Individual page opportunities will be on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. To schedule a large group, please reach out to the page program by calling 317-232-9410 or emailing pageprogram@iga.in.gov. Large groups will be scheduled for Wednesdays only.
Last year, I welcomed several students to the Statehouse, like Gavin Frazier, a New Castle High School student, and Clayton Lovett, a Shenandoah High School student from Middletown. I enjoyed my time with these bright students and their peers, and I look forward to seeing more young Hoosiers from our community at the Statehouse next session.
