STATEHOUSE (Feb. 7, 2017) – The House Select Committee on Government Reduction today voted unanimously in support of State Rep. Doug Miller’s (R-Elkhart) bill that would help the state reduce burdensome regulations.
Miller’s bill would task the Indiana Economic Development Corporation with developing an online portal that would allow businesses and local units of government to submit and describe duplicative state reporting requirements.
“This online portal would provide a direct line of communication between those who are impacted by state reporting requirements and those who can dissolve those requirements,” Miller said. “With so many rules on the books, policymakers want to hear from Hoosiers who face duplicative reporting requirements. Then we can use the information submitted on the portal to further streamline procedures and reduce government bureaucracy.”
House Bill 1157 heads to the full House for further consideration.
