With the Oct. 7 voter registration deadline approaching, I encourage Hoosiers to register or update your voting status by visiting IndianaVoters.com. Those who would rather register in person can go to their county clerk’s office. In.gov/courts offers a detailed directory of the clerk’s office for each county, including their addresses and phone numbers.
Remember, General Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5.
You can also plan to vote on or before Election Day by visiting IndianaVoters.com where you’ll find information on voting locations, who is on your ballot and what the state is doing to ensure the security of our elections.
To be eligible to vote, a resident must be at least 18 years old on or before Election Day, have a valid Indiana driver’s license or state-issued identification card, be a citizen of the United States and have lived in the same precinct for at least 30 days before the Nov. 5 election.
In-person voting at county clerk's offices will be available from Oct. 8 through noon on Monday, Nov. 4. The deadline to apply for a Traveling Board ballot is also noon on Nov. 4.
You can request an absentee ballot here if you are unable to vote in-person at your polling location. Absentee ballots must be received by your county election board no later than 6 p.m. on Nov. 5, except for overseas voters. The deadline to apply for a vote-by-mail ballot is 11:59 p.m. Oct. 24.
Military and overseas voters should use the Federal Post Card Application to request a ballot.
Citizen poll workers are critical to ensuring our elections run smoothly and efficiently, from welcoming voters to verifying registrations and issuing ballots. If you're interested in serving your community as a poll worker, you will receive training and can earn compensation for your service depending on the county.
