STATEHOUSE (Aug. 14, 2025) – The Seymour Farm in Clay County recently received a Hoosier Homestead Centennial Award for being in operation since 1885, according to State Rep. Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) and State Sen. Greg Goode (R-Terre Haute).
"Generational family farms are part of what makes west central Indiana special," Heaton said. "These Hoosier Homestead Award recipients represent the values of hard work, perseverance and deep roots in our rural communities. It's an honor to celebrate them."
Hoosier Homestead awards honor farms owned and operated by the same family for 100, 150 and 200 years with centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial awards.
"Indiana has a deep history of farming throughout our state thanks to family farms like the Seymour Farm," Goode said. "I am honored to represent the Seymour family in the Senate and congratulate them on this momentous award."

Hoosier Homestead ceremonies are conducted every spring and summer. Since establishing the program in 1976, Indiana has recognized more than 6,000 farms for their economic and cultural impact to the state.
