STATEHOUSE (Sept. 28, 2020) – State Reps. Bob Cherry (R-Greenfield) and Chris Jeter (R-Fishers) encourage local residents to register to vote or check their registration status before the Oct. 5 deadline using the state's online voter portal at

"Hoosiers need to make their voices heard this November," Cherry said. "With just days until the deadline to register, voters should use this time to check their registration status to ensure they can cast their ballot in the General Election."

Cherry said Hoosiers can also go to ahead of the deadline to verify their registration is active and update the personal information in their voter record. Once completed, registration forms can be submitted online, or printed and mailed or hand delivered to the county voter registration official or the Indiana Election Division.

To register, Indiana residents must be at least 18 years old on or before Nov. 3, have a valid Indiana Driver's License or Indiana State Identification Card, be a citizen of the United States, have lived in the same precinct for at least 30 days before Nov. 3, and not be currently imprisoned after being convicted of a crime. Those who do not have a driver's license or state ID can register to vote in person at county government centers, public assistance offices and when completing a Bureau of Motor Vehicles transaction.

"Elections are critical to our democracy, and anyone who is eligible to vote needs to be aware of the Oct. 5 deadline to register," Jeter said. "There are many opportunities to cast your ballot on or before Election Day. Through, you can find early vote centers and hours, request an absentee ballot or confirm your Election Day polling location."

In-person early voting begins Oct. 6, and Jeter said the state is providing masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and disinfectants to local election officials to protect poll workers, election staff and voters.
