STATEHOUSE – State Representative Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute), along with the Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann, presented the Town of Center Point with a Community Development Block Grant to improve their stormwater infrastructure.
“I commend the leaders of Center Point on their efforts to obtain this grant which is great news for the community,” said Rep. Heaton. “Improving this town’s stormwater infrastructure will not only reduce flooding and energy costs but also create jobs and spur economic growth.”
Through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, the grants are awarded annually to rural communities with pressing needs that require outside financial assistance. The grants are intended to help communities maintain a functioning, safe and attractive town for Hoosiers to call home.
Some of improvement projects might include sewer and water systems, community centers, health and safety programs to list a few. Center Point, in Clay County, was awarded $500,000 to use for stormwater infrastructure improvements.
“I look forward to the positive impact this community improvement project will have in Center Point and appreciate all of the hard work put forth by our local leaders to acquire it,” said Rep Heaton.
