STATEHOUSE (Dec. 19, 2018) – Local lawmakers encourage students who want to learn more about state government to participate in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2019 legislative session.

“The page program gives students the chance to learn about our state government in the place where laws are made,” said State Rep. Don Lehe (R-Brookston). “When spending the day at the Statehouse, young Hoosiers watch the legislative process and interact with state leaders.”

Those who are between the ages of 13 to 18 can spend a day at the Statehouse in Indianapolis helping staff and local legislators, touring government offices, and learning about the legislative process.

“As a new legislator, I feel it is important to meet as many of our community’s residents as possible, including local students,” said State Rep. Ethan Manning (R-Denver). “Our district is home to so many bright, talented Hoosiers and I look forward to hosting them at the Statehouse.”

Student pages receive an excused absence from school and groups can participate together.

“Each session, I look forward to meeting all the pages from our area,” said State Rep. Heath VanNatter (R-Kokomo). “The Statehouse offers a unique environment for students to learn about our government outside the classroom. However, openings fill quickly, so I encourage anyone interested to sign up as soon as possible.”
