I am honored to have been appointed as chair of the House Standing Insurance Committee. After serving as vice chair of insurance, I am confident that my work and legislative experience will provide me with a beneficial perspective. As session begins, I am excited to lead the conversation surrounding insurance policy.
My time as vice chair has given me firsthand experience reflecting on the impact insurance legislation has on Indiana. It has also allowed me to learn from former chairman, Rep. Matt Lehman, who is now serving as the Majority Floor Leader. He has always been willing to talk through issues and listen to differing perspectives, and I will continue to carry on this tradition.
As long as I have been on the insurance committee, discussions have always been respectful and Rep. Lehman always maintained a calm demeanor and consistent voice. I plan to lead this committee with a similar tone, ensuring all conversations are productive and contribute to making Indiana a better place to live and conduct business.
I have resided in the Fort Wayne community my entire life, and I am proud to be a lifelong Hoosier. Growing up in this great state has given me the firsthand experience of what it is like to be a part of a community that takes a vested interest in how each member is doing, which is why my wife and I decided to raise our two daughters here. I began my career in the financial industry in 2001, and I found a passion for financial planning, which includes a solid foundation of insurance protection.
For more than 14 years, I have helped business owners and families plan for their financial futures, which oftentimes leads to helping Hoosiers find insurance options that best fit their budgets and needs. I hold life, health, long-term care, property, causality and variable annuity licenses. Also, I hold series 6, 63 and 65 securities licenses. I have been able to use my experience to craft and discuss policy in a way that benefits consumers and balances the burdens placed on small businesses.
It is a tremendous opportunity to be able to use my years of practice and my role as a lawmaker. Over my course at the Statehouse, I have worked on legislation dealing with insurance matters. I look forward to continuing to help Hoosiers in any way possible, and working closely with members of the General Assembly will help ensure we are passing the best legislation possible.
This new role is exciting, and I am ready to take on the challenges being chairman will bring. My time served with Rep. Lehman has paved the way for me to take charge, and lead in a professional and respectful way.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or email me at 317-232-9643 or email@example.com. I look forward to continue to work for you this session.
