STATEHOUSE (Jan. 15, 2019) – State Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) and State Rep. Peggy Mayfield (R-Martinsville) honored the Tabernacle Christian High School boys basketball and the boys soccer teams at the Statehouse for their state championship wins.

“I applaud all of these young men for representing our community with great sportsmanship while maintaining highly competitive tournament play,” Mayfield said. “These champions didn’t get to this point without hard work, discipline and determination. If you put what you have learned as teammates to work in your personal and professional lives you will have very bright futures.”

On Oct. 27, the boys soccer team won the 2018 for Indiana Association of Christian Schools (IACS) state championship by defeating Colonial Christian School 2-1 in the final round of competition. The Eagles finished the 2018 season with a 16-5-4 overall record, and a 6-3-3 record in Central Indiana Christian Conference play.

“It was a pleasure to host the Tabernacle Christian High School boys basketball and soccer teams here in the Senate and recognize their respective IACS state championships,” Bray said. “Many of these young athletes played on both the basketball and soccer teams, making them state champions in more than one sport, which is quite the impressive feat. I offer my congratulations to these young men, and look forward to all they will accomplish in the future.”

The Eagles finished their 2018 basketball season with a 22-6 record and an undefeated 12-0 record in Central Indiana Christian Conference play. The basketball team also beat Colonial Christian School to win the title. The final score of the game was 93-50.
