"This budget was simply unacceptable - in process and outcome.   In the final hours of the legislative session, the final version was still undetermined.  Making matters worse, House Republicans were removed from last-minute negotiations on the budget when Speaker Bauer removed our conferee, Rep. Jeff Espich.

"We missed some great opportunities to make good policy.  While I'm not happy about the outcome, I'm certainly not surprised."

"The unemployment insurance fix is anything but a compromise; it's a lopsided mess.  The entire burden is placed on Hoosier businesses, an unwise move that may cause a domino effect of business closings and layoffs.  Both minority caucuses were shut out of negotiations, and special interests won out over common sense and the best interests of Hoosier taxpayers."
