Today in the Indiana House, Democrats passed a budget 52-48, which most certainly will lead to a tax increase for Hoosiers all across the state. Most troubling is the lack of recognition that Hoosiers are facing difficult times and that state government is also facing difficult times.
While 35 states across the country are struggling with deficits and making difficult decisions to help taxpayers, House Democrats have chosen to go another direction. They have guaranteed a cliff of major proportions.
In the coming days, let's hope that our Senate colleagues take a look at the governor's budget and make minor modifications. Let's all work on a bipartisan basis to pass a budget that's best for all Hoosiers.
