STATEHOUSE (Dec. 29, 2020) – State Rep. Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville) was recently named assistant majority whip for the Indiana House Republican Caucus and appointed to three House standing committees.

As assistant majority whip, Borders will work with caucus members on critical issues facing the state. Borders was reappointed to the House Local Government Committee, and newly appointed to the House committees on Commerce, Small Business and Economic Development, and Financial Institutions and Insurance.

As an owner of an insurance and financial services agency, Borders said he will use his experience to guide him as he examines state policies impacting small businesses and the insurance and financial services industries.

"Many local entrepreneurs have faced unprecedented challenges throughout this pandemic," Borders said. "They're part of the lifeblood of our communities, and we'll look for opportunities to help them grow their businesses and create jobs."

Borders will also use his experience as former mayor of Jasonville and as a member of the Local Government Committee to study potential legislation impacting municipal government. These committee appointments come after Borders was re-elected in November to represent House District 45 in the Indiana General Assembly. He said House standing committees will meet throughout the legislative session, which is scheduled to kick off Jan. 4.
