STATEHOUSE (June 1, 2023) – Gov. Eric Holcomb (seated, center) ceremonially signs into law legislation authored by State Rep. Jim Pressel (R-Rolling Prairie) (seated, left) to help reduce fatalities and crashes in active work zones Monday, May 22, 2023, at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. As chair of the House Roads and Transportation Committee, Pressel authored the new law to setup automated speed enforcement cameras in four active highway worksites in the state to slow drivers down and save lives. Indiana now joins at least 10 other states legislatively authorizing speed cameras to be utilized in highway work or construction zones. After adopting a pilot camera program in 2020, Pennsylvania reported a 17.2 percent reduction in speeding using cameras in work zones.
