STATEHOUSE (April 10, 2018) — Randolph County recently received a grant for a new fire station from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, according to State Rep. Greg Beumer (R-Modoc).
Funds are distributed to rural communities through the Community Development Block Grant Program to assist local governments with projects like improving infrastructure, revitalizing communities and long-term development efforts.
Randolph County received a grant of $500,000 for a new fire station, which will be constructed on three acres of land owned by the White River Township. The proposed facility will be approximately 7,744 square feet and will consist of five fire station bays.
“Investing in our infrastructure can help increase public safety for years to come,” Beumer said. “This grant will ensure our local heroes have the tools they need to protect the community.”
Beumer said more than $11 million in federal grant funding was awarded to 21 rural communities through the program. Communities applied for grants across five programs that include the Blight Clearance Program, Public Facilities Program, Stormwater Improvement Program, Wastewater Drinking Water Program and Main Street Revitalization Program.
