STATEHOUSE (March 7, 2018) — Members of the House of Representatives on Tuesday honored retiring State Rep. Greg Beumer (R-Winchester) for his six years representing House District 33.
“I want to thank the people of House District 33 for the privilege of serving our community,” Beumer said. “Though my time as state representative is coming to a close, I will still be active in our community and encourage anyone to approach me with any questions they may have.”
Beumer plans to finish out his term of office until the Nov. 6 election. During his time in the Indiana House of Representatives, Beumer served as vice chair of the House Committee on Environmental Affairs and as a member of the House Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development and the House Committee on Financial Institutions.
“Greg has served as a strong advocate for his constituents and for rural communities across Indiana,” said House Speaker Brian Bosma (R-Indianapolis). “His past experience serving at the local level and expertise on economic development issues were assets to our caucus, and he will be greatly missed at the Statehouse.”
Beumer co-authored several key pieces of legislation, including a bill expanding screenings for Hoosier newborns and another increasing funding for Indiana public schools.
As vice chair of the House Committee on Environmental Affairs, Beumer examined proposals related to environmental concerns. Beumer also authored a bill preventing drug testing fraud, which was signed into law in 2016.
