STATEHOUSE (Jan. 23, 2018) — The House of Representatives on Monday supported legislation co-authored by State Rep. Greg Beumer (R-Modoc) that would work to improve government transparency.
“This bill would consolidate many standalone reports published annually by state government offices into more accessible agency-level annual reports,” Beumer said. “These reforms would streamline administrative operations and improve transparency.”
Beumer said that by compiling agency-by-agency input, lawmakers were able to identify various ways to increase government efficiencies, and this bill works to use that agency input to consolidate and streamline state government reporting requirements.
According to Beumer, House Bill 1003 would repeal eight chapters, 99 sections and 31 reports in the Indiana Code that are outdated, unused or duplicative. The bill would also consolidate 35 standalone reports or reporting requirements into more accessible formats.
This bill can now be considered by the Senate. For more information visit iga.in.gov.
