Note to the press: Please include the following statement from State Rep. Bob Behning (R-Indianapolis), chair of the House Education Committee, in your coverage of Gov. Eric Holcomb’s announcement Thursday to cancel all state mandated assessments for the 2019-2020 school year:

STATEHOUSE (March 19, 2020) – “Governor Holcomb’s call to suspend statewide standardized testing for this school year is the right move for Indiana students and schools. Now is the time for kids to stay home and finish the year through remote and e-learning where possible. Our schools are doing a tremendous job of communicating with parents, and making sure students have access to resources and meals. These are tough times, but the health and well-being of students, educators and Hoosiers are priority one.”

State Rep. Bob Behning (R-Indianapolis) represents House District 91,
which includes portions of Hendricks and Marion counties.
