STATEHOUSE (March 22, 2021) – State Rep. Bob Behning (R-Indianapolis) at the Statehouse recently honored Decatur Central High School student Elijah Linden with a House resolution for being named an Indianapolis NBA Rising Star All-Star.

Behning, a co-author of House Resolution 12, said "Rising Stars" are high school seniors who demonstrate leadership in their schools and communities, and they receive a $2,100 scholarship. Linden was 1 of 21 Indiana students selected for the scholarship.

"Elijah is a caring individual with a bright future ahead of him," Behning said. "During his time as a counselor, his youngest brother was fighting leukemia. It takes a special person to not only provide support for his family during a difficult time, but to also take on a new role and mentor others."

Linden is a member of the Decatur Central High School varsity basketball team. He discovered his passion for the sport at the Concord Neighborhood Center, where he later worked as a day camp counselor. Linden plans to attend college and major in business. After college, he hopes to find additional ways to give back to the community, the center and his family.
