STATEHOUSE (Oct. 19, 2022) – Bartholomew County lawmakers encourage college students and recent graduates to apply for a paid Statehouse internship before the Oct. 31 deadline.
State Rep. Ryan Lauer (R-Columbus) said college sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as recent graduates and graduate students of all majors can apply for an internship with the Indiana House of Representatives. House interns will be paid $800 bi-weekly while working at the Indiana Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis during the 2023 legislative session, starting in January and concluding at the end of April.
"Interning at the Statehouse can lead Hoosiers down a rewarding career path in both the private and public sector," Lauer said. "It's important for local college students and recent graduates to apply before the end of the month and start their exciting professional journey."
State Rep. Jim Lucas (R-Seymour) said interested Hoosiers should visit indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and complete the application before Oct. 31. Intern interviews are currently taking place to fill positions in legislative operations, policy, and communications and media relations departments.
"This is a rewarding internship for all majors, and now is the time to get those applications in so that you, too, can benefit from the unique experience," Lucas said. "Interns will have the incredible opportunity to network with state leaders, Hoosier employers and others, which could open doors for future employment opportunities."

"Local students should take advantage of this rewarding experience, which could set them apart from other job candidates moving forward."
Internships are full time, Monday through Friday, and include free parking, career and professional development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, and opportunities to earn academic credits through the student's college or university. Interns are also eligible to apply for a competitive $3,000 scholarship to use toward undergraduate and graduate expenses.
