STATEHOUSE (Nov. 16, 2017) – State Representative-elect Steve Bartels (R-Eckerty) took the oath of office today to serve as state representative for House District 74.

Indiana Supreme Court Justice Geoffrey Slaughter administered the oath in the House Chamber of the Statehouse during a formal swearing-in ceremony.

“I am humbled and honored for this opportunity to serve in the House and represent the values of our area,” Bartels said. “Indiana has been recognized for our strong business climate and for attracting employers, and I believe my experience as the president of the Crawford County Council, the acting county economic development director and as a small-business owner has prepared me to take on this new position and work with my fellow legislators to continue moving Indiana forward.”

Bartels previously served on the Crawford County Council and owns multiple small businesses in the community.

Bartels will serve the remaining term of former State Rep. Lloyd Arnold of Leavenworth who resigned his seat in October.
