STATEHOUSE (Dec. 11, 2020) – State Rep. Brad Barrett (R-Richmond) was recently appointed to serve as chair of the House Public Health Committee.
Barrett, a retired general surgeon, said he will use his experience to help guide him as he examines health-related policies impacting Hoosiers.
"From screenings to insurance and licensing of health officials, this committee examines a number of issues impacting Hoosiers," Barrett said. "And the pandemic is further compounding so many aspects of our health and health care system, so we will have a lot of work to do in the upcoming session. I will certainly draw on my experience as I take on this new charge, and I am ready to get to work leading this committee."
Barrett will also serve on the House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee.
House standing committees will meet throughout the legislative session, which is scheduled to kick off Jan. 4. Access committee hearings, calendars and agendas online at iga.in.gov.
