STATEHOUSE (Nov. 17, 2016) — State Rep. Mike Aylesworth (R-Hebron) went back to the classroom today as part of the “Educator for a Day” program at Jane Ball Elementary School in Cedar Lake.

Aylesworth spent the day alongside third-grade teacher Cynthia Zyzanski, attending staff meetings, helping to facilitate conversations, speaking to the class and observing daily activities. Aylesworth also spoke to a group of about 30 teachers and administrators about the needs of public schools and discussed how the legislature can continue to serve students and educators.

“As a former teacher, it was a great opportunity to spend the day in the classroom working with students and educators,” Aylesworth said. “Being able to see firsthand all that goes into preparing the next generation of Hoosier leaders is invaluable. Students in Northwest Indiana continue to be well-served by the dedicated faculty and staffs in our local schools.”

The program is part of a celebration of American Education Week, which runs Nov. 14-18.
