STATEHOUSE (Feb. 23, 2024) – State Rep. Michael Aylesworth (R-Hebron) recently honored Indiana's 4-H youth development program and two area students who were selected for leadership roles within the organization.
Aylesworth said he authored House Resolution 15, which was adopted by the Indiana House of Representatives, to formally recognized the state's successful 4-H program and the students who power its success. 4-H, offered by the Purdue Extension, provides hands-on educational programming in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, healthy living and civic engagement to over 163,000 youth annually in all 92 Indiana counties.
"4-H allows students to dive into topics and hands-on experiences that can help develop their skills and abilities," said Aylesworth, chair of the House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee. "It's great to know Indiana has such a strong youth development program. I'm particularly proud of the students from Lake County who've been selected to represent this organization at the state level."
Aylesworth's resolution recognized seven students including Lake County's Noah Miller who were selected as the 2023-2024 class of Indiana 4-H ambassadors to represent the interests, beliefs and desires of the state's 4-H members. He also highlighted eight students including Colton Neal of Lake County who were selected to represent Indiana in the 102nd National 4-H Congress.
The Indiana House of Representatives also recognized Feb. 13 as 4-H Day at the Statehouse to honor the selected students for their accomplishments and encourage others to get involved in 4-H clubs, school programs, camps and workshops.
