STATEHOUSE (March 10, 2022) – State Reps. Chris Judy (R-Fort Wayne) and Bob Morris (R-Fort Wayne) at the Statehouse on Tuesday honored the undefeated Homestead Spartans girls soccer team and their state championship title.
Judy and Morris presented the team with a resolution recognizing their 2021 Indiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A state championship win. Homestead finished its undefeated season 22-0, becoming just the second unbeaten, untied state champion in IHSAA history. The Spartans yielded just 11 goals all year on their way to the programs first-ever title.
"Perfection is often unattainable in life, but through hard work and perseverance this group of young women were able to achieve that goal," Judy said. "To remain undefeated and make history by then securing a state championship title is something our entire community can celebrate."
In the state championship match against Carmel, Homestead won 2-1 to secure the title.
"On the pitch, the dangerous duo of Amelia White and Sydney Couch proved to be a lethal pair of scorers this season," Morris said. "As potent as the Spartans offense was, they were backed by an incredible defense with Sophie White. This special season was truly a team effort."
