STATEHOUSE (March 21, 2022) – State Rep. Chris Jeter (R-Fishers) and State Sen. Michael Crider (R-Greenfield) recently honored the Mount Vernon High School football team at the Statehouse for winning the 2021 4A state championship title.
Jeter and Crider presented the team with a resolution recognizing their 2021 Indiana High School Athletic Association Class 4A state championship win. Mount Vernon finished its 2021 season 14-1, and led the school to its first state football championship.
"These young men have done a great job representing our community and Mount Vernon High School," Jeter said. "I think sports are really important for young Hoosiers because they teach them life lessons like how to overcome adversity, how to work as a team, how to win, how to lose, how to chase after your dreams and the benefits of hard work. I think those lessons can be building blocks that mold young men into leaders."
In the state championship title game against Northridge, Mount Vernon won 45-15.
"It was a pleasure to join Rep. Jeter in recognizing the Mount Vernon Marauders football team for their state championship victory last season," Crider said. "These student athletes were outstanding throughout the tournament, and it was an honor to show them, the coaches and administrators where their state legislature completes work. I wish these exceptional athletes well for the remainder of their high school careers and beyond!"
