STATEHOUSE (March 29, 2019) – State Sen. Randy Head (R-Logansport) and State Rep. Jack Jordan (R-Bremen) Thursday at the Statehouse honored local teacher Jonathan Arndt for his achievements in teaching advanced placement courses.
Arndt teaches AP Calculus AB, precalculus, algebra and eighth grade math at Argos Junior/Senior High School. He was selected as the 2019 AP Midwestern Region Teacher of the Year by the College Board, which is a not-for-profit organization that connects students to college success.
“Teachers play a large role in preparing students for higher education and life after high school, and I am proud of all of Jonathan’s hard work to help our children succeed,” Head said. “More students have received qualifying scores on their AP exams since he started teaching AP classes, proving that his teaching methods and devotion to his students are truly making a positive impact. Congratulations!”
Arndt obtained hours of additional training to teach AP courses. Thanks to his extensive training and skilled teaching, Jordan said more students are better prepared for college.
“Jonathan is an incredible teacher who is deserving of this distinction,” Jordan said. “His passion and dedication to his students is evident in the effort he puts forth. Our community is fortunate to have such an outstanding educator. Congratulations, and thank you for all your hard work.”
Arndt is also a member of the University of Notre Dame’s Indiana Advanced Placement Teacher Investment Program, which provides teacher training and student support to boost students’ success in AP courses.
