STATEHOUSE (March 21, 2024) – Allen County lawmakers recently welcomed local students to the Statehouse where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2024 legislative session.
"A great way to learn about how laws are made is to visit the Statehouse during the legislative session, and that's why I highly recommend students take advantage of the program," said State Rep. Martin Carbaugh (R-Fort Wayne). "This opportunity gives students the chance to ask questions about the legislative process and meet lawmakers."
As pages, the students assisted lawmakers and staff with daily duties, toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, and joined lawmakers on the House floor to learn about the legislative process.
"The page program is a unique opportunity for students to visit the Statehouse and witness what takes place during session," said State Rep. Dave Heine (R-Fort Wayne). "I enjoy visiting with students from the community and I hope to see more young Hoosiers take advantage of this program in the future."
These Allen County students served as pages during the 2024 legislative session:
State Rep. Chris Judy (R-Fort Wayne) said students ages 13 to 18 should consider participating during the 2025 legislative session.
"I appreciate the Fort Wayne students who traveled to our capitol in Indianapolis to learn more about how state government operates," Judy said. "It's always exciting to have bright, young minds interested in how laws are made and asking questions about Indiana's history."
"This program provides a great behind the scenes look at the legislative process," said State Rep. Bob Morris (R-Fort Wayne). "I hope to see more Hoosier students from House District 84 during the 2025 legislative session."
Students ages 13 to 18 should consider participating during the 2025 legislative session. Contact Carbaugh at h81@iga.in.gov, Heine at h85@iga.in.gov, Judy at h83@iga.in.gov or Morris at h84@iga.in.gov for more information on the Indiana House Page Program.
