STATEHOUSE (May 6, 2025) – The 2025 legislative session ended with passage of the state's next two-year budget as well as tax relief and other key priorities for Hoosiers, according to Allen County lawmakers.
"The state's new two-year budget is a clear reflection of our dedication to fiscal responsibility and strategic investments that will support Indiana's long-term growth," said State Rep. Martin Carbaugh (R-Fort Wayne). "Additionally, House Republicans continued our work to reduce health care costs for Hoosiers."
The budget accounts for lowering Indiana's state income tax each of the next two years, which will save taxpayers over $200 million per year. The legislature also advanced major property tax relief and reform legislation this session. Together, these two tax cuts will save Hoosiers $1.3 billion in taxes over the next two years. Key investments were also made in K-12 education and public safety.
"The end of the 2025 legislative session represents a major achievement for Indiana with the adoption of another balanced, fiscally responsible budget," said State Rep. Dave Heine (R-Fort Wayne), who is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee. "We also passed meaningful property tax relief and tackled other priorities most important to Hoosiers."
All eight of the House Republican priority items advanced to the Governor's desk by the adjournment of session, including:
"Just like Hoosier families, we've tightened our budget while investing in our most critical priorities," said State Rep. Chris Judy (R-Fort Wayne), who is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee. "At the same time, we've been able to provide tax relief and address key issues like lowering health care costs for families."
"This was a productive legislative session that ended with a more efficient government, reduced spending and lower taxes for homeowners, workers, Hoosier small businesses and farmers," said State Rep. Bob Morris (R-Fort Wayne). "As we head into the summer months, I look forward to many more conversations with constituents on how we can continue making progress for our state and communities."
