STATEHOUSE (Dec. 10, 2018) — State Rep. David Abbott (R-Rome City) was recently selected to serve on three House committees.

Abbott will serve on the House Employment, Labor and Pensions Committee, the House Government and Regulatory Reform Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee.

“Committee hearings provide an open forum for debate and deliberation over the crafting of Indiana’s laws,” Abbott said. “As a businessman with over 30 years of public service to Noble County, I will bring my experience to the Statehouse and represent the citizens in my district as I consider new laws.”

Abbott served as a Noble County commissioner, a member of the Rome City Town Council and on numerous boards, commissions and committees. His previous experience includes work in automotive manufacturing, design engineering and management.

Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election. On Jan. 3, House lawmakers will convene at 1:30 p.m. in the House Chamber for the first day of the 2019 legislative session.

Standing committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas.
