“It was really great to be able to see so many students at the Statehouse,” said Rep. McNamara. “Looking at all the children who have made an investment in their education is an inspiring sight to see. I really enjoyed speaking to them as well as joining them in a more hands on educational experience.” At the Quality Education Celebration schools from around the state were able to come together at the Statehouse and meet the legislators from their district. Students that came to represent their schools were given a tour around the building to see the different branches of government and learn more about public service. The goal of this day was to highlight education in Indiana and give students an opportunity to see their own state government in action. As students made their way throughout the Statehouse they were able to engage in question and answer conversations with the representatives and senators from their districts. Students were able to ask questions regarding the tasks of being a legislator, how to pass legislation and the different types of bills legislators talk about while in session. |
