STATEHOUSE - “On Tuesday evening the governor shared his last State of the State address with Hoosiers and our General Assembly. Gov. Daniels has dedicated his eight years to improving the economy of Indiana…or, as some call it, creating the best sandbox in America. His legacy will be felt for years to come as we achieved our first triple A rating as he turned a deficit into a rainy day fund…which served us well during the recent recession as one of the few states to operate in the black during tough economic times. “In addition, Gov. Daniels can take credit for providing the greatest surge in infrastructure most can remember through Major Moves which has resulted in funding, after several decades of waiting, for I-69 and a four-lane Hwy 231 in Southern Indiana. “Gov. Daniels’ legacy will be felt for years to come as his leadership moved us from mediocrity to aiming higher in fiscal management and economic development. And, Gov. Daniels does not rest on his laurels as we continue to work on key economic issues this session. “Gov. Daniels made a promise when elected….to change things. We would not agree with all, but we would make changes. He has been bold and energetic. We owe a great debt of gratitude to one of the great governors in Indiana’s history. Thank you, Gov. Mitch Daniels.” -30- Rep. Ellspermann responds to State of the State, 1-10-12.docx |
