(April 7, 2020) – State Rep. Ben Smaltz (R-Auburn) recently welcomed a local student to the Statehouse to serve as a page during the 2020 legislative session.

Through the Indiana House Page Program, Carter Norrick, a resident of Auburn and DeKalb Central High School student, toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, helped staff with daily responsibilities and joined Smaltz on the House floor to witness the legislative process.

"I always enjoy talking with young community members at the Statehouse,” Smaltz said. “Seeing these students and learning about their concerns assures me our state will be in good hands in the future. It's inspiring to see the interest they take in our work.”

Smaltz said that while this year’s page program has concluded, students between the ages of 13 and 18 should consider participating in 2021. For more information, call 1-800-382-9841.
