Visit Indiana Week kicks off summer

Indiana is starting the summer travel season off with a week devoted to showcasing Hoosier destinations. Visit Indiana along with Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann are hosting "Visit Indiana Week" starting May 2 and lasting until May 10.

They are partnering with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources to offer a day of free admission to all state parks. This year, you and your family can enjoy an admission-free visit to state parks on Saturday, May 9. This is a perfect opportunity to spend some time at the park with mom for Mother's Day. I am excited to see the travel season start off strong! Indiana has many travel destinations to offer, and I am thankful to live in a state with these opportunities close by to both small and large communities. By traveling in our home state, you can learn about Indiana's history, create lasting memories and support the Hoosier economy.

If you are looking for fun events to do this summer with your family, I encourage you to check out Indiana's official tourism website, VisitIndiana.com to find trip ideas. This website will provide you and your family over 250 trip ideas and a free copy of the 2015 Indiana Travel Guide plus other travel guides.

Have a great summer!
