Local employment news and opportunities

Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) will be hosting their annual Mastadon Job and Internship Fair on September 22nd for both students and the general public. Additionally, IPFW has launched a career fair app and is offering prep sessions to prepare job seekers for the event. I encourage members of our community looking for job opportunities to learn more about the event by clicking here.

Connecting employers to potential candidates with the right skills is essential for our workforce. As a state leader, I have worked to support an attractive economic environment that promotes job growth in Indiana. This includes legislation that encourages schools and universities to partner with the business community. Through this effort, more students can receive the experience necessary to start their careers in high-wage, high-demand fields, which continue to be more readily available in our state.

Indiana has recently seen an increase in economic growth, reaching a historical benchmark. Employment numbers as of July 2015 show that Indiana's private sector had the highest concentration of jobs added in the U.S. As a member of the Employment, Labor and Pensions Committee, I am dedicated to continue supporting opportunities that will help the economy to thrive and grow.

Business development is essential to our economy, and I am always pleased when I'm able to share community events that benefit both local businesses and job seekers. As always, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact my office.
